520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. | 'The Terrible Siren is a biography of Victoria Woodhull. The biography covers the whole lifespan of the writer, stockbroker, educator, and reformist who was Victoria Woodhull. Emanie Sachs writes an intimate account that stems from a place of admiration and intense study. Notably Sachs is one of the only biographers of Woodhull who was able to interview those who knew Victoria Woodhull in life. Woodhull wrote and lectured about proto-feminism, liberation, free love, and socialism, and these topics are discussed at length throughout the book. Illustrations are integrated throughout the book, depicting Victoria Woodhull and those important figures to her, as well as important events from her life, rendered in sepia. Bibliographical notes are included.' -- from cataloger |
