Summary: This volume consists of a collection of letters which Marx wrote to his friend Dr. Kugelmann during the years 1862 to 1974. In these letters Marx devoted a good deal of space to personal affairs which are of biographical interest; but more important are those portions that contain theoretical and political material, especially two letters on the Paris Commune, and another, written on February 23, 1865, in which Marx exposes the opportunism of Lassalle.
