Contents:
I. The American working class -- II. The changing structure -- III. Effects on organized labor.
Summary: "In recent years we have been deluged by propaganda based on the assertion that the working class compromises a dwindling minority of the labor force, that it is increasingly being dissolved in a "middle class" of white-collars workers. This propaganda aims to discourage and undermine all independent labor action. It is directed not only against any development of independent political action by organized labor. It seeks also to weaken organized labor even in its "recognized" sphere of traditional trade unionism. By proclaiming the white-collar workers as a sort of "middle class" that grows faster than the workers, an attempt is made to erect psychological barriers against unionization of white-collar workers, thus undermining the effectiveness of organized labor." -- page 3.
